I was recently made aware of a company called Things Remembered. They’ve just launched a new line called Charm Story. These are not just any charms, mind you. These are a one of a kind collection of more than 50 sliver-plated engravable charms that tell a unique story.
And the very nice people at Things Remembered, asked me if I’d like to pick out a bracelet or necklace, and a few engraved charms for myself.
I couldn’t do it. I spent days agonizing over what to select. I mean, it’s not that I don’t have pivotal points in my life to celebrate! But I couldn’t wrap my head around picking out something so personal for myself.
Which is weird. Because I have absolutely no trouble getting very personal on my blog. Often leading my readers to run screaming “TOO MUCH INFORMATION!”
And goodness knows that I certainly have no trouble shopping.
I was about to give up, when Fiddledaddy suggested, “Do it for someone you love.”
THAT WAS IT! He’s so smart.
The first person that came to my mind was a woman who is very dear to me. My MIL, Natalie. I could not ask for a better mother-in-law, and she in turn has treated me like one of her own daughters since the day I waltzed into her son’s world and saved him from a life of microwave dinners and a solitary existence.
She has 6 children, 3 daughters-in-laws, and 3 son-in-laws. Plus a whole house full of grandchildren. And she doesn’t show favoritism. (Except that I probably am her favorite since she always sneaks me sweets.) But, shhhhh. The others don’t need to know.
When I started putting together a charm bracelet with her in mind, the task suddenly became joyful. I selected 4 charms. One celebrates the fact that she is a grandmother, another that she is a mother of 6, one more makes note that she is a woman of abiding faith, and the last celebrates the miraculous fact that she is a breast cancer SURVIVOR.
I could have kept going, but I feared that she wouldn’t have been able to lift her arm while wearing her bracelet.
I received the bracelet, complete with engravings on the charms, a couple of days ago. I was speechless when I saw it. The pictures on the website don’t do the pieces justice. They really are stunning.

If you are looking for a very personal gift for a special woman in your life (for Mother’s Day, Birthday, or just because) this is a wonderful way to let someone know just how you feel about them.
Each special charm retails for just $20, as do the new Things Remembered charm bracelet and charm necklace. But right now, Things Remembered is offering the bracelet or necklace with one “First Chapter” starter charm – either a heart, circle, star, or dog tag-shaped charm – for just $30. Engraving is a small, additional cost.
AND HERE’S THE REALLY FUN PART: Things Remembered would like to give one lucky commenter on this site either a bracelet or necklace, with one charm of their choosing (remember, there are 50 to chose from). Complete with engraving.
YOU HAVE TWO CHANCES TO BE ENTERED.
• Chance #1: Go to the Things Remembered website, poke around, and come back and leave a comment telling me which charm most appeals to you and why.
• Chance #2: Follow Things Remembered on Twitter, and post your own twitter linking to this contest. Then come back and leave another comment with your Twitter URL.
A couple of rules:
• Maximum of two entries per household (see guidelines above).
• Contest open to U.S. residents only.
• Winner will be selected via random draw, and notified by e-mail.
• You have 48 hours to get back to me, otherwise a new winner will be selected.

If you were to ever ask my mother what her favorite all time Mother’s Day gift from me was, she would not hesitate to tell you it was the time I showed up at her place of employment and sang to her.
In front of people.
She worked for Southwest Airlines in the reservation department for many years. The Reservation Center in San Antonio was an open seating area for a good 200 employees. I was pushing 22, maybe, and dressed up like a little girl, and surprised her with my rendition of “You Are My Sunshine.”
And she was thrilled. Although, I’m certain she was secretly wishing she had sunk some of that early ballet money into some singing lessons.
I’ve recently found something for Mother’s Day, that I wish I had known about all those years ago.
I’ve recently made the acquaintance of a company called Kranich’s Jewelers. They offer something very unique for a Mother’s Day gift. You go to the Build a Mother’s Ring page, select the style ring (or pendant), add the birthstones you want, and can even have your selection engraved. And then, you can see your finished product right away.
I have spent much time playing “jeweler” on this page. I just love the designs and many options offered.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the folks at this company. They’ve been around since 1903. Well. The company, not the people I’m directly working with.
Throughout its history, Kranich’s Jewelers has specialized in fine diamond jewelry and engagement rings. Today, Kranich’s also specializes in watches, colored gemstones, gold and platinum jewelry and pearls. They also feature selections of Designer Jewelry, Estate Jewelry and Fine Crystal. Kranich’s belongs to the Jewelers of American ‘100 Club’ and is the leading source for Fine Jewelry and Gifts in Central Pennsylvania.
The Kranich family believes it is very important to contribute to the communities they serve. Consequently, they are involved in many civic and charitable activities.
I think they run a class act business. And they are very speedy with delivery as well. Very important since Mother’s Day IS JUST NEXT MONTH!
DON’T ANYBODY PANIC!
And to celebrate this momentous occasion, Kranich’s Jewelers has generously offered to give away a piece of Mother’s Jewelry, valued up to $350.00, to be designed BY ONE LUCKY COMMENTER ON THIS POST! And that even includes the 33% off they are already offering.
So, it’s like getting a gift certificate of $350.00 to go toward a piece of jewelry, from the Mother’s Jewelry Builder design page. That way, you can have exactly what you want.
Here’s what you need to do. Go here to the Mother’s Jewelry Builder design page, and play jewelry designer. Come back here, and leave a comment telling me which style you liked the best!

(This is the one I put together.)
A couple of rules:
• One entry per household.
• Contest open to U.S. residents only.
• Winner will be selected via random draw, and notified by e-mail.
• You have 48 hours to get back to me, otherwise a new winner will be selected.
I will leave comments open until Tuesday, April 14th at 9:00 PM, EST.
And as an additional prize, I will come and sing to you in your place of employment!!!!
Oh, I kid. Don’t be scared.
Good luck everyone!
