I was recently made aware of a company called Things Remembered. They’ve just launched a new line called Charm Story. These are not just any charms, mind you. These are a one of a kind collection of more than 50 sliver-plated engravable charms that tell a unique story.
And the very nice people at Things Remembered, asked me if I’d like to pick out a bracelet or necklace, and a few engraved charms for myself.
I couldn’t do it. I spent days agonizing over what to select. I mean, it’s not that I don’t have pivotal points in my life to celebrate! But I couldn’t wrap my head around picking out something so personal for myself.
Which is weird. Because I have absolutely no trouble getting very personal on my blog. Often leading my readers to run screaming “TOO MUCH INFORMATION!”
And goodness knows that I certainly have no trouble shopping.
I was about to give up, when Fiddledaddy suggested, “Do it for someone you love.”
THAT WAS IT! He’s so smart.
The first person that came to my mind was a woman who is very dear to me. My MIL, Natalie. I could not ask for a better mother-in-law, and she in turn has treated me like one of her own daughters since the day I waltzed into her son’s world and saved him from a life of microwave dinners and a solitary existence.
She has 6 children, 3 daughters-in-laws, and 3 son-in-laws. Plus a whole house full of grandchildren. And she doesn’t show favoritism. (Except that I probably am her favorite since she always sneaks me sweets.) But, shhhhh. The others don’t need to know.
When I started putting together a charm bracelet with her in mind, the task suddenly became joyful. I selected 4 charms. One celebrates the fact that she is a grandmother, another that she is a mother of 6, one more makes note that she is a woman of abiding faith, and the last celebrates the miraculous fact that she is a breast cancer SURVIVOR.
I could have kept going, but I feared that she wouldn’t have been able to lift her arm while wearing her bracelet.
I received the bracelet, complete with engravings on the charms, a couple of days ago. I was speechless when I saw it. The pictures on the website don’t do the pieces justice. They really are stunning.

If you are looking for a very personal gift for a special woman in your life (for Mother’s Day, Birthday, or just because) this is a wonderful way to let someone know just how you feel about them.
Each special charm retails for just $20, as do the new Things Remembered charm bracelet and charm necklace. But right now, Things Remembered is offering the bracelet or necklace with one “First Chapter” starter charm – either a heart, circle, star, or dog tag-shaped charm – for just $30. Engraving is a small, additional cost.
AND HERE’S THE REALLY FUN PART: Things Remembered would like to give one lucky commenter on this site either a bracelet or necklace, with one charm of their choosing (remember, there are 50 to chose from). Complete with engraving.
YOU HAVE TWO CHANCES TO BE ENTERED.
• Chance #1: Go to the Things Remembered website, poke around, and come back and leave a comment telling me which charm most appeals to you and why.
• Chance #2: Follow Things Remembered on Twitter, and post your own twitter linking to this contest. Then come back and leave another comment with your Twitter URL.
A couple of rules:

It’s hard to pick a favorite.
I like the Wax Seal Mom Charm because, well, I’m a Mom.
I also like the Wax Seal Baby Footprint charm. Especially because my daughter is pregnant and I will have my first grandchild by the end of the year.
I’m an official “Twit” as of yesterday.
I’m a Twit, she’s a Twit…wouldn’t you like to be a Twit, too?

I love the seashell charm because it reminds me of summers spent collecting scallops in St. Joe Bay!
Love all the “wax seal” charms – I would love to make a bracelet exclusively of those! The Bible locket is pretty unique as well. Thanks for pointing us in this direction – they are fabulous and affordable!
I like the May birthstone heart charm – it would be great for representing my baby boy, who will arrive a week from tomorrow!
I would definitely choose the Asian love charm – both of my children are adopted from Korea.
I really like the new baby charms. My best friend is pregnant with her first, due in July. She’s following old superstitions and not buying/receiving baby gifts until after the baby is born. That said, I’ve got a closet full of presents waiting for the kiddo! It would be really lovely to have a piece of jewelry waiting for her too.
I love the baby footprint wax seal charm. There is nothing more precious than baby feet!
I would probably get the birthstone charms for each of my kids & the photo charm for my hubby & I!
I like the wax seal baby footprint charm. So cute!
I LOVE the baby footprint wax seal charm as well! There is something so precious about itty bitty baby feet!
I like the butterfly charm and the wax seal mom charm
I love the heart and ring charm!
I think the Secret Message charm is really cute!!
I like the oval picture charms. I like them a lot.
Wow! I am one of 3 girls, we are all married with a total of 8 kids between us. My dad passed away in 2004 in a terrible farming accident. My mom has remarried and moved away. Her husband has 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren for a grand total of 7 daughters, 7 sons-in-law and 16 grandchildren now! A gift like this would be perfect for her this Mother’s Day!
I love the idea of a charm bracelet and would especially love to do a charm for each of my children. Maybe the rectangular photo charms – those look really cute. It would be fun to have a baby picture of each of them on there.
I am torn between the oval photo charm (so gorgeous) and the crystal cross charm. I love photo charms because I like to see photos of those I love, but the crystal cross is beautiful too. I think I would start out with both of those.
i especially like the charm bracelet with the star charm
If I were making my own, I think I’d get three wax seal baby footprints with each kids’ name and birthdate and then the heart and ring charm with mine and my husband’s name and our anniversary date. Cool.
I would get the graduation cap charm. My one and only is graduating high school this month. I’ve been meaning to but haven’t started a charm bracelet for her yet. This would make a great gift for her.
My daughter graduates on the 17th she would love the bracelet with the graduation cap.
I love the birthstone charms–would get one for each of my kids!!
I like the crystal cross the best.
I’ve always loved Things Remembered! But they’re in the mall – I don’t like the mall! I can’t believe I didn’t think about looking online! My favorite charms are the baby feet and the butterflies. Nothing in the world as sweet as baby feet!
I would love to buy so many of these charms and make bracelets for all those special people(and one for myself too!). I really like the Butterfly and the Crystal Heart charms.
The baby feet and crystal cross are my favs. I would probably pick the birth stones as well for my two children.
What a nice gift idea! I was recently looking at similar bracelet/charms from Pandora and Trollbeads. The charms at Things Remembered are just as beautiful as the other brands, and much more affordable. I was looking for a bracelet for my mother for Mother’s Day. I think she will love this collection!
I LOVE the wax seal charm! I also really like the hearts with the birthstones. I’d love to get those in honor of my kiddos.
I love the Crystal Daughter frame. It isn’t a charm but my daughter would really love and use this!
I love the photo frame charms. I would probably get the heart one w/ hubby and I and one photo frame for each child.
Pretty!!
