Alternate Title: “Even The Toys Are Talking Back To Me…”
When the ultrasound operator announced with confidence, “it’s a girl”, I let out a squeal of joy. For two reasons. First, I was immensely relieved that it was an “it” and not a “they.” Because judging from the size of me, I could easily have been squirreling away 3 or more babies. And second, I wanted a valid excuse to shop the doll aisles once again.
Like I really was waiting for an excuse.
And then two years later, the ultrasound technician announced, “it’s a girl.” Again, I let out another squeal of joy. Fiddledaddy squealed. But, I’m not certain it was joy.
And btw, if you are new here, he did get his boy with the third and final child. And at that ultrasound visit, he may have hugged the technician. And cried tears of great relief. And I may have heard him say, “Thank you, Jesus.” Five hundred times.
Oh. I jest. Sort of.
Anyhoo. Needless to say, all these 9 years later, we’ve seen our share of naked, headless Barbies and Polly Pocket body parts.
If you’ve perused the doll aisle lately, you may have noticed a new doll house in the neighborhood. And this is a good one. It’s called the Mrs. Goodbee Interactive Dollhouse put out by Caring Corners.
And interactive dollhouse. I’ll let that soak in.
And get this, it teaches your child caring and sharing, good manners, and preparing for real-world responsibilities. LIKE CHORES!
It’s a 3 story dollhouse with 12 big rooms, 6 on each side. PERFECT for siblings so each can play on their own side.
There are countless activities, songs, words, and sounds. As well as gentle reminders by Mrs. Goodbee.
Jensen has commandeered the dollhouse bathroom, as you might imagine. Because it has the sound of a toilet flushing. And if you flush one too many times, as he is apt to do, Mrs. Goodbee will remind you “too much flush.” And then, if you take care of your bathroom deeds correctly, you are treated to applause.
These are his people.
There is also a “garden of good deeds” to encourage the accomplishment of simple responsibilities such as picking up toys, brushing teeth, sharing, and not thwacking your sibling on the head with your Blues Clues Blanket.
You can also go online for more learning activities and play.
The Mrs. Goodbee Talking Dollhouse is recommended for ages 3 and older. I think it’s really ideal for little girls ages 3 to 7. It’s sturdy, and folds neatly for storage.
(And it’s pretty popular with one 3 year old boy that I know who has a fascination for all things bathroom related.)
Now, this is what I love about this company. Caring Corners is working with Goodwill Industries to encourage children to fill the empty dollhouse box with gently used outgrown clothes and toys to give back to Goodwill. And that will help your child begin the wonderful habit of giving to others.
I am so proud to be asked to be a part of Bloggers Give Back. Because Caring Corners has sent me a dollhouse that I am able to donate to a worthy cause or charity of my choice.
